Which Kaloud hookah fits your plans?

Kaloud's hookahs belong to the Krysalis family. The Calix, Eltheria and Monarch are not simply three sizes of the same pipe: their bodies, materials and construction differ. Are you looking for something compact to take with you, or a hookah that will have a dedicated spot? That question is more useful than choosing the most expensive model.

Calix: compact, without a conventional glass base

The Calix is Kaloud's portable hookah system. The Calix 2.0 uses a Tritan plastic water vessel with stainless steel internal components. It does not just look different from a short stem on a glass base; the whole construction is different. It is worth considering when compact size matters more to you than having a traditional glass vessel. A carrying bag is a separate item to check in the package contents.

Eltheria: the system beneath the dome

The Eltheria uses inner and outer vessels. Water goes into the inner container rather than an ordinary base attached beneath a stem. The 2.0 generation has a redesigned dome and chamber housing. One detail worth checking: transparent does not necessarily mean glass. Kaloud offers replacement Eltheria 2.0 domes in both glass and plastic, for example. Check the material of the particular edition you are considering.

Monarch: stone, wood and hand-blown crystal

The Monarch takes a different approach to both construction and appearance. Its crystal vessel sits within a stone-and-wood structure, with built-in storage and lighting. This is a hookah whose design stands out even when it is not in use. The different editions give that concept different finishes. Its higher price is not simply a promise of more smoke; materials and the elaborate production process are part of what you are paying for.

2.0 is a generation, not a finish

Kaloud distinguishes the original Calix and Eltheria systems from their 2.0 generations. Redesigned chambers and stainless steel components are more than a color change. An older review may therefore show different internals from the hookah you are considering. Compare the model, generation and included equipment together.

Core System or Complete System?

For the Calix 2.0 and Eltheria 2.0, Core System means the hookah itself, with the bowl, HMD and hose selected separately. Complete Systems add these components as a package. The Lotus version, Samsaris bowl and other accessories depend on the particular set. Compare more than the two price tags: a lower-priced Core System may work out differently once you add the compatible equipment you still need.

Water level and valves affect the draw too

The unusual construction does not mean every Krysalis automatically has the same draw. Assembly matters as well. Kaloud identifies excess water as one cause of a restricted draw in the Calix 2.0. On the Eltheria, incorrectly seated silicone valves can obstruct airflow. If the draw becomes unusually tight straight after cleaning, check the water level, seals and valve seating before rebuilding your bowl.

Cleaning includes taking the system apart

With Krysalis systems, the inner vessel, outer body and seals all need attention. Remove any Selestia lighting module before washing; its electronics must stay out of the wash water. Kaloud specifies hand cleaning for the Calix and Eltheria, not a dishwasher. Keep that in mind when choosing: these are distinct assemblies, not just metal stems you can briefly hold under a tap.

Match replacement parts to the model

There is a specific upgrade option for an older Eltheria: Kaloud says the dome and chamber housing from its 2.0 Upgrade Kit fit first-generation Eltheria bodies. That does not make every Krysalis part universally interchangeable. Check the stated model and generation compatibility when selecting replacement vessels, seals or adapters.
